Hymns to Sing to Your Baby

Hymns aren’t as prominent in churches today as they were twenty years ago. However, these historical pieces of praise shouldn’t be forgotten. They are so full of truth from God’s Word! Take a took at these three hymns to sing to your baby!
1. In Christ Alone
Why we love this song:
This hymn has the Gospel message at it’s core. Why more would you want your sweet baby to hear at such a young age? As Christian parents, our deepest heart desire should be for our children to stand know and love Christ above all else.
Favorite Lyrics:
“In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my light, my strength, my song….There in the ground His body lay, Light of the World by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again.”
2. Standing on the Promises
Why we love this song:
This is another great hymn to build a foundation of faith in the heart of your little one! Singing this song will teach your baby that you trust in the unchanging Word and promises of Christ. As they grow up and see you live out that faith, God can use those same promises you sang about to change your child’s heart.
Favorite Lyrics:
“Standing on the promises, I cannot fall. Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call. Resting in my Savior as my all in all. Standing on the promises of God.”
3. Jesus Loves Me
Why we love this song:
At the core of the Gospel message is Christ’s love for lost mankind. He came as a man, took our punishment on the cross, and conquered the grave because of His great love for us. Every single one of our sweet babies needs to hear that Jesus loves them.
Favorite Lyrics:
“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me!”

Christians Songs

Hymns aren’t the only songs to sing to our sweet littles. There are also many wonderful, modern Christian songs that are full of truth. Check out these three popular songs that you have probably heard on the radio recently. They are wonderful choices, full of foundational truth to sing to your baby!
1. See a Victory by Elevation Worship
Why we love this song:
Life is going to happen and our sweet babies will eventually grow up to see how sin has wrecked our world. They will be hurt by friends. Sickness may infiltrate your family. In every battle, as Christian parents, we want our children to have confidence in the Victor- Jesus Christ.
Favorite Lyrics:
“There’s power in the mighty Name of Jesus. Every war He wages, He will win. I’m not backing down from any giant, I know how this story ends…I’m gonna see a victory for the battle belongs to You Lord.”
2. The Way by Housefires
Why we love this song:
Jesus is the only Way, the Truth and the Life. As our babies grow up, we want their hearts to know and love Jesus. Many other truths will be presented to them. They will be encouraged to find life in everywhere other than Christ. Prayerfully, the foundation we set will remind them that Jesus is the Way.
Favorite Lyrics:
“I believe, You are my fortress. You are my portion. You are my hiding place. I believe, You are the Way, the Truth, the Life.”
3. Way Maker by Sinach
Why we love this song:
Another foundational truth that we want our sweet babies to build their lives upon is the character of God. He makes a way where there is no way. He keeps every promise that He ever makes. And He is the One who breaks through the darkness in our world. Mommas, use this song to sing to your little ones about how God is so deserving of our hearts and affection.
Favorite Lyrics:
“Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness, My God – that is who You are….You are here moving in our midst. I worship you. I worship you.”

Faith Based Lullabies

All of these faith-based lullabies are from a CD called “Hidden in My Heart.” Each lullaby is based off of a verse in Scripture. They are such a wonderful way to teach your children the Truth of Scripture at an early age. Plus, they just might get stuck in your head as well. We all need a little extra Scripture memory in our lives.
1. Be Still and Know by Scripture Lullabies
Why we love this song:
This is such a sweet lullaby to sing your little one to sleep. As mommas, we definitely want our littles ones to be able to rest in the God of Creation. Sing to your sweet baby about resting in the loving arms of the Lord.
Favorite Lyrics:
“Be still my soul. Be still and know that He is God. Rest quietly. Rest in His loving arms, for He is watching over you. Ever faithful, ever true.”
2. Seek Ye First by Scripture Lullabies
Why we love this song:
This lullaby is one of my absolute favorites!!! It not only teaches our young one’s about seeking the heart of Christ above all, but is also an amazing reminder for our own hearts. May we seek Him above all else in our lives.
Favorite Lyrics:
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. And all these things will be added unto you. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.”
3. I Will Never Leave You by Scripture Lullabies
Why we love this song:
The truth is that we are never left alone or forsaken by our wonderful Father. Such an amazing verse to sing over your baby at bedtime! Our world is wrecked by sin. As a result, sadness will often creep into our hearts. Arm your child with the truth of God’s nearness to fight off the darkness in our world.
Favorite Lyrics:
“When your sky is cold and lonely, when your heart is filled with fear. I will wrap my arms around you. Know that I am here and I will keep you safe and sound – through the darkness that surrounds. I will never leave you or forsake you.”
In Conclusion
Songs are so powerful. Just think of how a newborn’s face lights up when they hear their momma sing…or how a room of toddlers breaks into dance when their favorite song comes on.

Even as moms, our attitudes can be quickly influenced by a song on the radio. We know it all too well! “Butterfly Kisses” or “Christmas Shoes” leaves us in tears within seconds of coming on the radio. There are other songs that leave us feeling empowered and ready to tackle the day.
Whether for the benefit of our sweet babies or our own heart, singing Christian songs and hymns to our children is wonderful. Add a little more music into your day. Sing a song or two over breakfast. Choose a favorite lullaby for bedtime. You may just be surprised at what your little one picks up on.
