He is the same God who will continue to work in and throughout their life. Here are 10 simple, but impactful bedtime prayers for babies that you can pray over your little one.
10 Bedtime Prayers for Babies
1. Dedicate Your Baby to The Lord
“Heavenly Father, I come before you tonight to thank for you for this gift of life that you have blessed me with. Thank you for entrusting him to my care and guidance. I want to dedicate my child back to Your hands, and give you the authority to have Your way in his life. I have prayed for this child, and now you know what is best for him. You had a plan prepared for him and his future before creation. I give back to You this gift that You have given to me. Amen.”
2. Pray Psalm 23
Pray over your baby, and replace his name within the chapter.
“Father, tonight I want to pray a blessing over my baby. I pray that he would always know the goodness of Your green pastures, and that even during the valley, he would know You are God. I pray that this Psalm would be true in his life,
‘Yahweh is my shepherd. I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He restores my soul. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. You rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.” Psalm 23, WEB
3. Pray For Baby’s Salvation
“Heavenly Father, tonight I pray for my baby’s salvation. I pray that he would come to know you at an early age, and never remember a day when he did not know you. In Your Word, You tell us that all those who call on Your name will be saved, and God, I pray that my baby will call upon You for his salvation. I pray that he would learn to come and experience Your love, grace and mercy in his life. Lord, open his eyes to the sin that separates Him from Your love and accept the great gift that you have given us in Your Son, Jesus. May his life be a testimony to the world around him of You. Fill Him with the hope that only You can provide. Amen”
4. Comfort + Sleep
“Heavenly Father, in scripture, you tell us that you are our comforter. I pray that tonight, you will comfort my little one and help him to sleep. Bring peace to his little body, and allow him to rest. Give me wisdom and understanding to know how to best comfort him, and please give me patient and peace as well during this season. Be his comforter tonight, and throughout his life.”
5. Wisdom in Their Life
“Lord, I come before you and pray for my baby. This world can be a big and scary place, and he is so little here tonight. Lord I pray that throughout his life, whatever he comes into contact with, and whatever challenges he faces, you will give him wisdom to walk according to Your will. Stay always by his side to direct him toward the path that you have made for him. Lead him away from those things that would cause unnecessary hurt to him, and help him to endure through the storms that are meant to bring him closer to You. Amen”
6. Grace + Peace over Your Baby
“Father, I pray this benediction over my baby. Please bless him, and keep him. Make your face shine on him, and show him Your favor. Be gracious to my baby. Lift up Your face to him, and surround him with you incomprehensible peace. Amen”
“Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26, WEB
7. Ask the Lord to Protect Your Baby
“Father, we pray tonight that you would protect our baby. Put your hand of protection around him, and keep him from the things that would harm him. Protect him from the influences in the world that are out to deceive him and pull him away from you. Watch over our baby and keep him safe. Amen”
8. Pray for Baby’s Future
“Jesus, tonight I pray for my baby’s future. As his parent, it can be scary to think about all the things that he will have to face throughout his life, but You have had his life planned out from the start. I pray that you will give me peace in knowing that Your plan is perfect, and use me in his life to encourage him toward you.”
9. Baby Would Grow to Rely on God
“Father, in the book of Proverbs, you promise us that if we train up our child in the way he should go, that he will not depart from those ways. Please help us to train him up in a way that is godly, and pleasing to you. God, I pray that he would,
“Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB)
10. Pray that Baby Would Never Worry
“Lord, I pray that my baby will not be anxious about anything, but that he would learn to lean on you. Help him to find his hope and peace in You, and to learn from a young age to give over his care and worries to You. Lord, Your yoke is easy and light, and I thank you that we can lay our burdens at your feet. Give me the strength to be this example to my baby through his childhood so that he can learn to do the same.”
