After deciding you are ready to have a baby, you probably realized that you need to track your cycle. This helps you to know when your best chances of getting pregnant are. Although there are so many ways to do this, having a period tracker will make this a lot easier. But, are ovulation tracker apps really accurate?
In this guide, I’m sharing my favorite fertility tracking app, how it works, and how to use it so you can get pregnant. I want to share tips and tricks, so you can get the MOST accurate ovulation window – which betters your chances of conceiving this month.
This blog post is sponsored by the Premom App. Although I am working with Premom, I am always honest! All the thoughts and opinions are from my own experience. So…… Are Ovulation Tracker Apps Really Accurate?
Yes! Ovulation Tracker apps are very accurate if you are using them right.
When I got pregnant with my daughter, two years ago, I was shocked that her due date lined up with my fertility app. Which meant that it accurately detected my ovulation day! (If you’ve been TTC for any amount of time you know this is really important.)
At the time, I was using the free version of the Premom app. I loved it so much that when we decided to start TTC for baby #2, I reached out to Premom to see if we could work together.
Is Premom Ovulation App Accurate?
If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you know that I don’t share anything unless I believe in it wholeheartedly. From my personal experience with premom’s ovulation app, it’s very accurate!
I’m pretty in tune with my body. When we were trying to conceive the first time around, I learned a lot. So, I got really good at looking for the signs of ovulation. This is going to sound crazy, but I can pretty much tell you when I’m ovulating without an app – that’s why I’m so confident that it’s accurate.
If you need more proof….. is getting pregnant with Baby #2 enough to convince you? Yup… that’s right… we are pregnant AGAIN!! Thanks to the Premom App!

Premom Memberships (They can help you get pregnant faster!)
Like I said earlier, I had used the free version of the app to get pregnant with my daughter. If I had all the analysis reports back then, I may have been able to get pregnant faster.
This time around, I learned that my luteal phase is on the shorter end of the spectrum. I had no idea that this was a problem. I actually reached out to one of the experts because I was a little concerned and here is what she said:
As you can see, I might be a little low on progesterone. I love that she gave me options to try!! I ended up doing a little more research and realized that stress is a big factor when it comes to progesterone, so I’ve been trying to work on that.
Anyhow, I wouldn’t have had this insight, if I didn’t have the gold membership. This was a HUGE help.
If I didn’t get pregnant this cycle, I would have brought the analysis reports to my midwife and talk through my options! I love that I had this information.
Here are the 4 different memberships that Premom offers, along with what’s included in each level. I’ve been using the Gold membership, which has been perfect for me!
How to use the Easy@Home Ovulation Tests
Now that I’ve shared all about the app, if you sign up for a membership you will receive Premom’s Easy@Home ovulation tests. Even if you have used LH tests in the past, you will want to continue reading through my tips – just to ensure that you are accurately finding your ovulation window.
What you get in the kit?
I originally found the Premom app because I purchased these ovulation tests. If you don’t want to get a membership, but want the tests, head over to Amazon and grab a box!
With your membership, you will receive 50 LH tests along with 20 Pregnancy Tests! This is an awesome deal, even if you only sign up for three months.
How to use OPK Tests
First of all, you will want to make sure you buy cheap disposable cups to pee in (you can grab them here on Amazon). I really wish that Easy@Home had included a cup, in the package. When I was lazy, I just peed on the test – although you have to be really careful to not go past the max line.
Step 1: Pee in a Cup
Step 2: Dip Ovulation Test in Pee for 5 Seconds
Step 3: Lay LH Test on a Flat Surface
Step 4: Open your Premom app and Start Your Timer for 4 Minutes
Step 5: Take a Picture of Your Test in the App
Tips for Using Ovulation Test Strips
1. Start using them the day AFTER your period ends.
Surprisingly, some women ovulate just days after their period ends. You want to start testing early, so you don’t miss your ovulation window. Although the average ovulation day is CD 14, some are shorter and others are longer.
2. Get Pee Cups
I mentioned this earlier, but you will want to get pee cups. This will help you to have the most accurate tests and way less mess. These are the cups I used and the’ve worked out great.
3. Take Tests 2-3x per Day
If you aren’t sure when your LH surge will be, it’s important to test several times a day. This time around, I had a good idea of when my ovulation window started. So, when I noticed the tests starting to get darker, I would test 2x per day!
I typically get a peak LH around noon.
4. Lay Some Toilet Paper on the counter, set the Wrapper on it, and the LH Test on That
This ensures that things don’t get messy and makes for super easy clean up!
5. Do this for SEVERAL months
I highly recommend tracking for several months before you actively start trying. I like to look at it as a trial period. If we get pregnant during this time, that’s awesome! But if we don’t, that’s okay because I’m learning about when my fertile window is.
6. Once you have some data, use your app to help you predict ovulation
Here is my chart from the month I conceived.
You can see that we tried to “baby dance” in the days leading up to ovulation. My rule of thumb is when your LH tests start to get darker… you want to start baby dancing!! DON’T wait until it’s at peak!
Premom Pregnancy Tests Review
I used the Premom Pregnancy Test on 10 DPO (which was a little early) and I thought I saw an indent or an evap line. I really thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I used Pregmate’s Pregnancy Test. This too had some kind of a line. It was definitely a little more noticeable but I thought maybe this was an indent as well since it was colorless.
I ended up taking a First Response Pregnancy Test… which was a clear POSITIVE!!
With all of this being said, if you are an early tester you won’t see a clear line until you are very pregnant with Premom’s tests. This is just something to be aware of while TTC.
If you want to take the guesswork out of tracking your cycle, you absolutely need to try Premoms app. No matter what method of tracking you prefer (BBT, Ovulation Test, or Cervical Mucus), this app has the ability to track it all. I love that there is a community to help me throughout this entire journey. It’s absolutely worth it to get a membership and try it out for a few months – especially if you want to get pregnant quickly!
