4 Tips for Keeping the Spark Alive During Pregnancy

Date Nights

Date nights are so crucial! It’s important to get in the habit of them now in order to continue to have special, uninterrupted time with your significant other once the baby comes. It can be easy to get caught up in everything that is going on, but spending special time with one another will definitely help keep the spark alive! Prioritize Love Languages

If you haven’t read The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, I would strongly suggest it for anyone in a relationship! In his book, he discussed how each person has their own unique way of showing and receiving love. Chances are, you and your spouse do not have the same love language, so it’s important to communicate and see what makes each of you feel most valued and loved. Making a priority to show each other how much you care in the way you each best receive it is the ultimate way to feel secure, loved, and know the spark is definitely still alive!

Communicate

While it may not sound all hot and spicy, communication is one of the key ingredients in keeping the spark alive in any healthy relationship! Whether you set up a special date once a week to talk about your goals and ambitions or you check in each night, it is especially important to communicate during pregnancy.

If you’re not sure what to talk about or want to communicate in a new way, there are countless online lists of date night conversation starts. Click here for an example! To make things fun you could print the questions out, cut them into strips, and take turns pulling them out of a bowl! What a fun way to find a deeper, more intimate connection with your spouse throughout your pregnancy!

Own Your New Body

Throughout your pregnancy, your body is constantly changing. Everyone’s pregnancy is unique. Whether your face breaks out or you grow in some places more than others, there may be times when you simply don’t feel like yourself. Though you may not always feel like it, your new body during pregnancy is something to be proud of! You are literally growing a miracle, and you should feel absolutely radiant and proud of yourself!

Your level of confidence can have a huge effect on you and your spouse’s intimacy throughout pregnancy, so it is crucial that you find ways to see yourself the way that he sees you: a beautiful woman doing amazing things. If you don’t feel confident enough to be intimate with your spouse and keep the spark alive, then it simply won’t happen.

Tips on Building Up Your Confidence During Pregnancy

Owning your body and having confidence are an essential part of keeping the spark alive during pregnancy, and here are a few tips and tricks on how to boost your confidence throughout your nine month journey to motherhood!

Find Support

Throughout your pregnancy, you will have people all around you offering plenty of advice and guidance (some unwarranted, I might add). It’s important to surround yourself with women who are in a similar stage of life and who are empowering and confident. Trust me, it’ll rub off on you! If you don’t have anyone that you know personally, thanks to social media, you can easily find a group or number of women that you admire and aspire to be to follow!

Don’t Dwell on the Numbers

Yes, it is important to stay healthy in order to help your baby grow and thrive while you are pregnant, but it is not helpful or even productive to dwell on your weight and your body changes. You are growing a human being! You are going to gain weight, and that is okay! By shifting your focus to staying healthy, you will automatically feel much more confident in the days to come in your pregnancy!

Pamper Yourself

Even on those days where you are feeling down on yourself, everyone has something that helps lift them up! Whether it’s going to the gym, getting your nails or hair done, or getting a massage, take the time to pamper yourself every once in a while for a confidence boost!

Find Outfits that Work for You

Your new pregnant body is beautiful and something to be celebrated! What better way to celebrate it than getting some new clothes that will boost your confidence and show off your new curves?! If you feel good about what you are wearing, it will show and it will definitely help keep the spark alive in your relationship!

Date Night Outfits During Pregnancy

When keeping the spark alive during pregnancy, confidence is key! As mentioned above, one of the best ways to boost your confidence during your pregnancy is to find some staple outfits that work for you and make you feel beautiful! I’ve included some adorable date night outfit ideas that will be sure to make you feel confident and ready for a romantic date night with your spouse!

Pregnancy is one of the best times to wear something form-fitting and show off that gorgeous bump and your new figure! Simply pair this dress with some stylish sneakers and a cardigan if it’s cooler outside and you have yourself a look that exudes confidence and style!

If you are looking for something a bit more dressy, try this empire waist maxi dress. It allows you to show off your bump in a beautifully subtle way! Coming in a variety of colors, this dress can easily be your go-to confidence building date night dress!

No matter the season, a gorgeous kimono should be a staple in every pregnancy wardrobe! You can pair it with a form-fitted tank and some jeggings for a day-date look or put it over a dress for a date night. No matter how you choose to wear it, you are definitely going to feel both comfortable and confident in this look!

Some pregnant women feel more confident when they wear something that makes their pregnancy known. With an adorable novelty shirt paired with some cute jeggings or a skirt, you will be sure to look cute and stylish! I’m sure your husband will love showing you off with your cute shirt that makes your pregnancy known!

In Conclusion…

Keeping the spark alive during pregnancy can be tricky at times, but it is completely accomplishable no matter what your pregnancy situation may be! Whether you schedule routine date nights, plan a quick getaway, or pamper yourself once a week in order to re-spark your own confidence, it’s important to find what works best for you and your spouse!

Before you know it, there will be a precious little one journing your family. It will be a time filled with love like you’ve never known along with many hardships you’ve never faced. It’s important that you and your spouse prioritize each other so that you are ready to face whatever live may bring together!
