In this post, I’m sharing some of my favorite bible verses for babies, some that are gender neutral and others that will help you pray specifically over your little boy or girl. I hope that you find a few of these verses resonate with you and that they would encourage your baby’s faith.

8 Bible Verses for New Babies (Gender Neutral)

As we raise our sweet new babies, it is so important to surround them with God’s Truth. As we remind them of God’s heart, it is also a great way to encourage our own hearts with His promises.

Check out these scripture about new babies. These are great for a boy or a girl.

*We use the WEB version of Scripture, but feel free to use your favorite.

1. Ephesians 2:10

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.”

Every child has received life from the hand of God. God has created each baby with a distinct plan and purpose in mind. He created their personality and abilities to match the plan He has for them.

2. Numbers 6:24-26

“Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make His face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh life up His face toward you, And give you peace.”

The verse is commonly spoken as a blessing at the end of many church services. It was written by Moses from the Lord as a blessing to the Israelites. It is such a great verse to pray over our sweet babies. What more do we want then for the Lord to bless and keep them?

3. Proverbs 3:24

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.”

We all know that parents don’t get to sleep much that first year of a baby’s life. This bible verse serves as a great reminder that this season is temporary and that God will give them rest.

4. Romans 15:13

“Now many the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Our hope as parents is to raise children who know and trust the Lord. We desire for them to live a life of contentment that is found in Christ. This verse serves as a reminder for parents that hope is found in God’s love and guidance.

5. Ephesians 3:17-19

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.”

As Christian parents, one of our greatest hopes is that our baby grows up to know the Lord. We pray that they would understand how much He loves them, with a kind, sacrificial love. It gives hope that one day, should they come to know Christ, that He will keep them in His strong love.

6. Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Before this child was born God knew and love this child. He chose them to be set apart for a purpose!

7. Psalm 127:3

“Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward.”

Sometimes as parents, we need to be reminded that God gave us this child as a gift. When we begin to mediate on this verse, you will find such joy in knowing that the Lord chose YOU to raise this sweet baby.

8. 1 Samuel 1:27

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him”

If you were TTC for a while, this child was definitely prayed for. This verse is a sweet reminder of how faithful our God is!

3 Bible Verses for New Baby Girl

These verses aren’t written directly for girls. However, I think they are super sweet to pray over our baby girls and to imprint on their hearts.  Bible verses for new babies can be so encouraging to read over and over again.

1. Psalm 139:13-14

“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.”

What an amazing time in a mother’s life! For nine months, the Lord has created and grown a sweet baby girl for the mom to love and care for. This verse is a perfect reminder to the girl that God created her with a plan and purpose.

2. 1 Timothy 4:12

“Let no man despise your youth, but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in sprit, in faith, and in purity.”

Every parent desires for their child to grow up and be a leader. This verse is perfect for little girls to know. As they grow up, we want them to set an example, even in their youth.

3. 1 John 3:18

“My little children, let’s not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.”

This is another great verse for parents to being teaching and praying over their baby girls. As they grow, we want them to be women of their word, not just women who speak about good things.

1. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

“Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be strong! Let all that you do be done in love.”

Sweet little boys will grow up to be men. Our prayer is that when life throws at them lies and hurts, that they will stand strong on their faith. We need to pray that they know the Lord deeply, so that they are faithful, discerning men of God.

2. Ephesians 3:16

“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, that you may be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inward man.”

This is a great verse for parents to pray over their little boys. Pray that they would know God through His Spirit and that the Lord would strengthen and guide them through all of life.

3. 1 Samuel 1:27

“For this child I prayed; and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of Him.”

Often, many parents have spent years praying for the child they’ve been given. It is so easily to forget God’s goodness and blessing in the midst of the craziness of parenthood. This bible verse is a great reminder, especially for those parents of brave boys, that God is faithful and that every child is a gift.
