11 Bible Verses and Prayers For Babies in the Womb

Note: These Bible verses are from the WEB (World English Bible) version. Each verse is coupled with a prayer for your precious little one to serve as inspiration.

1. Psalm 139:13-16

“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.”

Isn’t it amazing that even before there was a positive pregnancy test, the Lord knew this child? This Bible verse is a great reminder that the Lord has a plan for this child and he/she was thoughtfully made.

Using this verse, here’s a prayer idea:

Lord, Thank you for blessing us with this baby, who you have created in my womb. Before we even knew about this child, you had a plan for their life. God, please help us show this child that they are truly loved. That you created them perfectly in your eyes. I pray we can encourage them not just by our words but more importantly by our actions. Thank you God for this beautiful gift! Amen.

2. Philippians 1:9-11

This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”

This scripture for pregnancy is all about focusing and praying that this sweet little one will grow into a Christ-loving, glory-giving child and adult.

This verse could be a great prayer on its own, however, here is another prayer idea based off this wonderful verse:

Lord, I ask that you help us prepare for parenting this child. That you would guide us in sharing your love and our faith with them. This life isn’t about us, but is to bring glory to your name. I pray that we can be good examples of your goodness and teach them right from wrong. Our mission is to prepare them for the day they come before you. Thank you God for the gift of parenting! Amen.

God, please help us to encourage him/her into what you have called him/her to. Thank you for giving this child their unique gifts and traits, that you made so perfectly. Amen.
