Why I Started Using Earth Mama’s Belly Butter
To give you all a little back story, when I was about 7 weeks along in my pregnancy, I started looking into stretch mark creams. My mom actually mentioned that she had stretch marks from her pregnancy and said that stretch marks can be a hereditary trait, as far as number and severity.
Now I have nothing against stretch marks, they are beautiful war wounds and battle scars that signify the miracle of life and motherhood. However, if they don’t have to be so large and if they don’t have to be so dark, then I would like to do what I can to keep them smaller and lighter. That’s just my personal preference with my pregnancy.
Problems With Stretch Mark Creams
When I started doing research on stretch mark creams, I found that they each have their pros and cons….. So you have to pick your battle! The number one complaint I kept coming across for lotions, is that they are just too greasy. I knew I wouldn’t use it, if the cream was greasy.
So in my search for a non-greasy stretch mark lotion, the Earth Mama Belly Butter is what was recommended time and time again on pregnancy forums and by Youtubers. I found so many people loving this product so I thought I’d give it a shot!
Earth Mama Belly Butter Ingredients
The ingredients are so easy to read and aren’t a mystery like with some other creams on the market:
Organic Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Organic Olive (Olea Europaea) Fruit Oil, Organic Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) Seed Oil, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Shea (Butyrospermum Parkii) Butter, Potassium Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Organic Sweet Orange (Citrus Sinensis) Peel Oil, Organic Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) Leaf Extract, Organic Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Seed Oil, Organic Calendula (Calendula Officinalis) Flower Extract, Organic Borage (Borago Officinalis) Seed Oil, Organic Red Raspberry (Rubus Idaeus) Seed Oil, Neroli (Citrus Amara) Flower Oil, Organic Vanilla (Vanilla Planifolia) Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum.
Earth Mama Belly Butter contains absolutely no petroleum, no mineral oil, no parabens, and no artificial fragrances. That is one big reason behind why I love it so much!
When to Start Using Stretch Mark Cream?

I recommend using Earth Mama Belly Butter lotion pretty much as soon as you find out that you’re pregnant. I recommend using Earth Mama Belly Butter every morning because, even though your stomach is not stretching a lot at the beginning, you want to prepare your skin and its elasticity way before the stretch marks starts cropping up.
Prevention is really the only practical measure when it comes to stretch marks, and you don’t really know when your belly is finally gonna pop out and start growing insanely fast. With my pregnancy, I started to notice my stomach changing around 8 or 9 weeks, so I’m so glad I started using the Earth Mama Belly Butter around that time.
How to Apply and How Often
The way I use Earth Mama Belly Butter is once in the morning, and then sometimes a second time later on in the day if I need it.
Now the cool thing about the Belly Butter is that it doesn’t have to solely be used on your belly. You can use it on your breasts, hips, thighs, basically anywhere you know will be prone to a bit of stretching and growth during your pregnancy.
I usually use one pump for my belly, and one pump for my hips and my chest. And I do want to mention that my belly doesn’t ever feel overly dry, which, lack of skin hydration can be a contributing factor toward deep, dark stretch marks. However, my belly skin does get a little bit itchy, so I just apply the Belly Butter about two times a day and it feels so much better after.
Why I LOVE This Stretch Mark Cream
- Ingredients – Again, Earth Mama Belly Butter contains no petroleum, no mineral oil, no parabens, and no artificial fragrances. The ingredients are all recognizable and this is very important to me because your skin is an organ that absorbs whatever you put on it directly into your bloodstream. So I didn’t want anything that wasn’t natural to be on my skin on such a consistent basis.
- Non-Greasy – I absolutely love that is greasy. It’s a thinner type of lotion, not overly thick.
- The Texture – This Belly Butter is just the silkiest consistency. It not only feels great, but it also sinks in fast and doesn’t just sit on top of your skin, which I love. I can immediately put clothes on after application and not worry about getting it all over my clothes.
- The Pump – The pump over a jar makes it easy to control how much you’re using and makes portioning it much easier to do.
- The Fragrance – I am in love with the scent! It smells just like a creamsicle and it’s gentle and mild, not overpowering. If you’re very sensitive to scents in your first trimester, it may bother you, but feel free to go for it after those first trimester sensitivities are gone, and it shouldn’t be a problem. I was sensitive to scents, and I wasn’t bothered by the fragrance.
How Does Stretch Mark Cream Work?
Stretch mark lotions, creams, butters, and oils work to improve the elasticity of the outermost layer of the skin and dermatologists agree that using stretch mark creams before the stretch marks appear is most effective in preventing the overall severity of the marks that will be left behind.
There is also some evidence to suggest that massaging and rubbing moisturizing creams into the skin, assists in exfoliation of dead skin cells. This can help with cell turnover and help with the emergence of stretch marks. Prevention is the bets medicine when it comes to stretch marks.
In Conclusion…
So to wrap up this Earth Mama Belly Butter review, I really do think this product is amazing, and I would recommend it to all of my pregnant friends. Using this the past two months, I’m happy to report that so far I see no stretch marks at 16 weeks, and I’ll keep you posted on that! This is seriously the BEST stretch mark cream on the market.
I did do a lot of research on stretch mark lotions before I tried out this one, but the Earth Mama Belly Butter by far the best one out of all of those.
