How to Encourage Your Son’s Faith Through Childhood
Proverbs 1:8-9 states, “My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching: for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.” As parents, it is our responsibility to instruct and teach our children in the best way that we can–providing them with an example of Christ’s love that will encourage them through childhood.
In Proverbs 22:6, it says that if we do this, then our encouragement and training through childhood will stay with our sons when they are grown. Here are three ways we can Biblically encourage our sons and their faith in hopes that it carries with them into adulthood:
Pray
Prayer is so powerful! Whether you’re praying for your son, with your son, or with your entire family, this will teach and show them the strength of your faith and how it is impacting your life. Using the Bible verses for sons above is a great place to start when you are beginning your journey to praying and encouraging your son through childhood.

Read the Bible
There are so many ways that you can Biblically encourage your son throughout his childhood! Reading the Bible is one that will make a lasting impression! You could simply make a habit of having quiet time to read your Bible around him. When your son sees you doing this, he is learning what it means to rely on God’s word.
You could structure family Bible time. You could read a scripture a night before bed. You could even use some of the Bible verses for sons to read and memorize once a week as a game! No matter how you incorporate reading the Bible in your son’s childhood, it will greatly impact his relationship with Christ.

Attend Church Regularly
The final way to encourage your son’s faith through childhood is to make an effort, as a family, to attend church regularly. Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.” Other than modeling your faith to your son daily through prayer and reading scripture, one of the best ways to help him grow in his faith throughout childhood is to provide him with many opportunities to learn about Christ and feel Christ’s presence when people of the church are gathered together for Him.
In Conclusion…
These 15 Bible Verses for Sons are a great place to start when praying over and thinking about how we can best raise our sons and encourage their faith through childhood. As parents of faith, it is our hope and prayer that our sons grow to be strong men of faith, and I hope you found this article a great starting point in your journey to doing so.
