As parents, our hope is to raise this little boy to be a strong, independent follower of the Lord. It’s our job to be an example and lay a good foundation for our son to grow up in. It’s important to pray with Bible Verses for Sons to help guide your prayers and focus on the years to come.
It’s so easy to focus on the here and now. More often than not, we forget that our children won’t be little forever. It’s our mission as parents to raise a child who becomes a confident and independent adult. Ultimately, it’s only our job to plant the seed, to water it, and pray for the Holy Spirit to make his affections for the Lord grow.
I hope these Bible Verses for little boys encourage you to be praying for their future! No matter how old our children are, we need to always be covering their life in prayer. This is truly the best gift we could ever give them.

What better place to start this list than the first commandment? Above all else, it is our prayer as parents of sons that he develops a genuine love for Christ in childhood that he can carry with him for the rest of his life!
Lord, help us to raise this little boy to love you above all else. That he would find his own relationship with you and would grow in his affections for you. Over his childhood, help us to be an example of what it looks like to truly love you. Thank you for sending Jesus as your example of unconditional love! Amen.
2. Psalm 31:14
“But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”
Prayer: To Trust God
Through all of the ups and downs that this little boy will endure, trusting in God will bring so much peace and comfort to His life. It’s never to early to be praying for His faith and trust in the Lord.
Lord, as our son begins to explore his relationship with you, I pray that he will learn to trust in you. That he would see your plan for his life is perfect. I pray that as parents, we would display what it looks like to trust in you with our life. Remind us daily to be an example of you! Amen.
3. Mark 12:3
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[a] There is no commandment greater than these.”
Prayer: To Love Other
It is our hope that one day our sons will model Christ’s love with their future relationships. He must be both strong and gentle, loving others in a way that lets God’s love shine through.

Prayer: To Stand Strong
As our sons grow, they will be tested and tried because of their faith. Whether they are struggle with a college paper or a tough decision, our hope is that they would stand firm in their faith. That even when times get tough, they trust and lean into the Lord because they He is the way!
Lord, help our little boy grow into a strong man. No matter what challenges or struggles he faces, I pray that he would turn to you. That when a difficult decision is before him, he would make a decision that would please and glorify you. May he find his strength through you, in all of life’s circumstances. Amen!
5. 1 Peter 5:5-7
“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Prayer: To Stay Humble
As a man fearing man, it is essential that he see his own faults, ask forgiveness when appropriate, and learn from his mistakes. Being humble is a characteristic that God shows favor to. It’s important that we are training Him up in a way that will help him have a character of humility, even when the world is telling him otherwise.
Lord, humility is one of the greatest attributes a man can have. I pray that through your grace, he will humble himself. That he will think of others before himself and not let pride get in the way. Help us to parent in a way that teaches Him humility, so he will grow to look like you. Amen!

9. Grow to be a good husband and father

How to Encourage Your Son’s Faith Through Childhood
Proverbs 1:8-9 states, “8My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching: 9for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.” As parents, it is our responsibility to instruct and teach our children in the best way that we can–providing them with an example of Christ’s love that will encourage them through childhood.
In Proverbs 22:6, it says that if we do this, then our encouragement and training through childhood will stay with our sons when they are grown. Here are three ways we can Biblically encourage our sons and their faith in hopes that it carries with them into adulthood:
Prayer is so powerful! Whether you’re praying for your son, with your son, or with your entire family, this will teach and show them the strength of your faith and how it is impacting your life. Using the Bible verses for sons above is a great place to start when you are beginning your journey to praying and encouraging your son through childhood.
Read the Bible
There are so many ways that you can Biblically encourage your son throughout his childhood! Reading the Bible is one that will make a lasting impression! You could simply make a habit of having quiet time to read your Bible around him. When your son sees you doing this, he is learning what it means to rely on God’s word.
You could structure family Bible time. You could read a scripture a night before bed. You could even use some of the Bible verses for sons to read and memorize once a week as a game! No matter how you incorporate reading the Bible in your son’s childhood, it will greatly impact his relationship with Christ.

Attend Church Regularly
The final way to encourage your son’s faith through childhood is to make an effort, as a family, to attend church regularly. Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.” Other than modeling your faith to your son daily through prayer and reading scripture, one of the best ways to help him grow in his faith throughout childhood is to provide him with many opportunities to learn about Christ and feel Christ’s presence when people of the church are gathered together for Him.
These 15 Bible Verses for Sons are a great place to start when praying over and thinking about how we can best raise our sons and encourage their faith through childhood. As parents of faith, it is our hope and prayer that our sons grow to be strong men of faith, and I hope you found this article a great starting point in your journey to doing so.
